Statement regarding fake Magewell Video Capture Devices

China, Nanjing, March 2, 2016——Recently Magewell has found some video capture devices that are of very similar appearance and fake Magewell products or products made by modifying a Magewell product. Those products are sold using Magewell brand or other brands. Due to the appearance and the advertisement of the seller, clients easily mistake them as genuine Magewell products. However, the quality of those products poorer, the functions fewer, problems more and service life shorter. They are not covered by Magewell warranty and will not be supported by Magewell Technical Team. The ingenuine products harm client’s interest, ruin the reputation of Magewell and disturb the market of video capture devices.

Currently the fake cards noticed by Magewell have the serial number beginning with MM. Magewell hereby declares that “Magewell products” with MM serial numbers are not genuine ones. There are some USB 3.0 capture devices resemble Magewell USB Capture family in appearance. They mislead the clients and it is an infringement of Magewell’s product appearance patent. Magewell will not provide support for those products. We would like to recommend the clients purchasing the genuine products and protect their own interest.

How to distinguish

Clients can check whether the products you have bought are genuine or not in the following two ways:

1. Check your products closely against the official picture, especially the capture interface and the components on the card. All the models of Magewell products are listed online.
2. Contact Magewell Sales Team and provide the serial number of the product. We will check it for you.

How to report ingenuine products to Magewell

Magewell is working on collecting information related to the ingenuine products. We will protect our interest and intellectual property by taking legal actions against the manufactures of the ingenuine products.
